6. Neville D'Souza

India first met hosts Australia, winning 4–2 with Neville D'Souza becoming the first Asian to score a hat trick in the Olympics and also making India the first Asian team to reach the Olympic semi-finals. They lost 4–1 to Yugoslavia, and lost the third place play-off match 3–0 to Bulgaria.

7. Pradip Kumar Banerjee

Pradip Kumar Banerjee or P.K. Banerjee, is a distinguished former Indian footballer and football coach. He was awarded the prestigious Padma Shri in 1990. He represented India in three Asian Games 1958 , 1962 (India clinched the gold medal) and 1966. He captained India at the 1960 Summer Olympics.

8. Syed Naeemuddin

Syed Naeemuddin is an Indian football coach and a former football player. He coached the Indian football team for several years and also worked as the coach of the Bangladesh national football team. He was conferred Dronacharya Award by Government of India in 1990. He is also a receipient of Arjuna

9. Sunil Chhetri

He is the all-time top goalscorer for the India national team, with 51 goals in 91 appearances. In December 2007, Chhetri was awarded the AIFF Player of the Year award for 2007 for his excellent form and performances for his club and country. Received Arjuna Award in 2011.

10. 2013

The Indian Super League was founded in 2013 in an effort to make football a top sport in India and to increase the level of Indian football worldwide. Currently, the Indian Super League consists of eight teams from seven different states in India.
